Mark T. Barney

Partner

Mark Barney’s more than thirty years of experience in transactional law provides Ferguson Case Orr Paterson’s clients expert representation in multimillion dollar business sales, commercial leasing, refinancings, and commercial real estate sales. Mark, a partner at our firm, focuses on advising clients through each stage of business, including entity formation, contractual relations, sales and acquisitions, and dissolution. In that context, Mark specializes in drafting all types of business related contracts, including shareholder agreements, operating agreements, employment agreements, commercial leases, and other business contracts. He works with business entities of all types and sizes, including corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, nonprofits, and mutual water companies, and has made presentations to other business lawyers on partnership dissolutions and other matters.

Before joining our firm, Mark practiced transactional law at Vinton, Slivka & Panasci in Denver, Colorado. He also previously practiced at England, Whitfield, Schroeder & Tredway in Oxnard. Mark attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1986, and he earned his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1989.

When not practicing law, Mark serves his community through his involvement with Studio Channel Islands Art Center and his commitment to animal welfare evident in his volunteering  with Emergency Animal Response (EARS). He also enjoys traveling, cooking, coaching and otherwise spending time with his wife and two children.
